It’s Official: My baby countdown blog transitioned from a 10-day countdown into a 12-day countdown into an actual real live baby blog! Noah Michael Cherkasky was born on September 23, 2013 at 4:08pm. He weighed 7 lb 1 0z and was 20.5 inches.
But first things first. Because it’s been quite the journey from my last post on September 22 to sitting here today with my 6-day old baby boy. I won’t bore (or horrify) you with the minute-by-minute details of my labor or our first days with the baby, but here are some things that I have learned in the past week:
- Back labor is a real thing. & it’s TERRIBLE. (more on that later).
- Hospitals have too many rules when you’re suffering. Midwife next time.
- Thinking I didn’t need many newborn size clothes was a mistake. Turns out 0-3 month size are actually huge on a 7lb baby.
- I’m already obsessed with my breast pump.
- The first few days home are enough craziness to almost make you forget about labor. Actually, just typing that negated that thought.
- I still can’t figure out who our baby looks like. But he is truly the cutest and sweetest baby in the world.
We are off to sleep (haha) now, so more to come tomorrow on the life of little Noah.

You were correct not to buy a lot of newborn stuff. I had this same fear when Minnie was born. Asher was so big he went right into 3 months and Minnie was swimming in NB so I ran out and bought her a ton of cute NB outfits. Well, guess what, 3 weeks later and she was in 3 months. If Noah’s long or once he hits 8lbs, he’ll make the transition. Enjoy!!! And again, I just love his name.
